Today is my birthday - my 23rd birthday. Happy Birthday to me! However, today was just another ordinary day to me.
I woke up early and headed to school (students come back next Wednesday!) for an all-day workshop. The workshop was about our new teacher evaluation system that will be implemented this year. I know, juicy stuff, right? I know you all wish you were there! Right as lunch was ending, the teacher's lounge got this god-awful smell. The best way to describe it is to think about burning hair (like on a curling iron), reclaimed sulfur water, a match burning, or a small electrical fire - then add them all up into one horrendous smell. Yeah, it was that bad. One of our assistant principals thought they were working on the sewer system, but it turns out that they were cleaning out the grease traps in the cafeteria which happens to share the same air filtration as the teacher's lounge. And since there were so many of us, they couldn't move us into another room to finish the workshop. So, there we sat, for three hours in that disgustingness. Ick...
After work, I came home and did pretty much what I always do. Played with the cats a little bit, checked my Facebook account, and then catch up with some of my favorite blog reads (check out my blog roll to the right). The only thing "special" I'm doing is ordering some pizza to be delivered - it's feels like its been forever since I've had delivery pizza.
You might be wondering why I'm not having some crazy birthday bash. First of all, I'm not your "bash" kinda girl. Secondly, I live way too far away from any of my friends to even try to go out for drinks and/or dinner. As for the fiance, we also live too far apart to do anything during the week. But, don't worry, he's still got something planned. All I know is that next weekend I'm not allowed to plan anything. I think I'm suppose to find out tonight what the surprise is... my guesses? I'm assuming something local/in-state. I doubt he spent money on airline tickets considering we're putting the bulk of our extra money towards the wedding. Also, we both love going to the beach (we got engaged at a local beach), so I'm thinking a new beach that we haven't been to yet. My only other guess would be somewhere in Georgia; although it'd be a long drive, it's close enough to make a weekend out of it. What would we do in Georgia? I have no idea. But I promise to give the details once I have the details.
So that's what's been going on lately. Nothing too crazy. We did manage to go back to Sea World last Sunday, and I've been working on a post about ways to save money at the theme parks. My mom should be coming down this weekend to help me start packing up the apartment. And we might be taking a trip to the beach with my sister and her family.
Oh, and because I think every post should have a minimum of one picture, here's an oldie from a past birthday:
I think this picture is from my 18th or 19th birthday.Yes, I wore blue framed glasses. And for those wondering, that's my nephew & niece helping me blow out the candles.
Anyways, I hope everyone else is enjoying these last few weeks of summer! Anything exciting going on in your lives?
